Zeldin Attacked: New York Is Not Safe Anymore

Tioga County residents have seen a lot in the past two decades of Democrat rule in Albany which has made us fear for our future. Skyrocketing taxes, a deteriorating job market, and the blatant disregard of rural Upstate New York by Albany Democrats have conspired to erode our citizens of the quality of life which their hard work has earned them. Though all of this has been horrific, perhaps nothing has been as shocking as the crime spree of the past two years, one which has taken a toll on urban and rural counties alike. This crime spree visited the Monroe County town of Fairport late last week, as a deranged man rushed the stage in an attempt to murder Congressman Lee Zeldin, the Republican candidate for Governor of New York. This happened in the aftermath of Governor Kathy Hochul releasing Zeldin’s campaign schedule earlier that day, in a post which used inflammatory language designed to motivate extremist anger against the Congressman. The predictable outcome of this manifested when this man came onto the stage and approached Zeldin wielding a bladed object. Zeldin was successfully able to grab for wrist control, stopping the attacker while Lt Governor candidate Alison Esposito and AMVETS President Joe Chenelly wrestled him to the ground. They did so successfully, subduing the man with zip ties until the police were able to arrive. As Zeldin predicted on Twitter, his attacker was released on the same day as the attack occurred under the absurd New York bail reform law.

This display of political violence is nothing new to conservative activists in the Southern Tier. One may recall the Progressive Leaders of Tomorrow (PLOT) intimidation against a Binghamton Back The Blue rally, the PLOT attack against a Binghamton College Republicans event, the BLM attack against a conservative school board candidate in Binghamton, or the infamous Ithaca Trump rally riot which resulted in the serious injury of a 64 year old woman. From 2020 going forward, the radical left has been emboldened and enabled by a discriminatory state government to openly attack people like us. The attack on Zeldin, and total lack of a serious response by state authorities, only serves to drive that point home.

If you are a conservative in New York State, you are a second class citizen under Kathy Hochul. The only way to change this is to get Lee Zeldin elected. If we do not do that, we can look forward to more incidents like this in the future.
